About Laura Cannon and Just Okay:

At 27, Laura faced an unimaginable loss. While training to become an oncology pharmacist, her husband passed away from cancer. Amid her grief, she was met with unhelpful clichés: “You’re so strong,” “Widows are usually older,” and “I don’t know how you do it.”

Isolated and overwhelmed, Laura longed for a space where she could simply exist without expectations—a space to feel seen and understood. Out of this need, she created Just Okay, a community where those in their darkest moments can find connection, compassion, and the freedom to be exactly as they are.

We’ve been inspired by Laura’s story since the moment we heard it. We’re honored to share her journey and the launch of Just Okay with you.

About Open Spaces:

The world has a connection problem. We’re here to change that.

Open Spaces brings people together to connect around our challenges, struggles, and rock-bottom moments—the things that make us human. We believe that healing from life’s ruptures through community is the foundation for true transformation. Join our movement and discover the power of shared experiences in fostering growth, resilience, and hope.

Open Spaces is a community-driven event designed to foster connection and healing through shared stories and open dialogue. While we aim to create a supportive environment, please be aware that sensitive topics, including personal struggles and mental health challenges, may arise.

Participants are encouraged to share only at their comfort level and to respect the boundaries and experiences of others.

Please note that Open Spaces and Just Okay are not a replacement for professional mental health care. If you are in need of support, we recommend seeking guidance from a licensed mental health professional or therapist. Open Spaces facilitators and special guests are not licensed mental health providers.
